Cañón del Sumidero |
Walls which reach several hundred meters tall, lush vegetation, abundant runoff that adorn and that in turn feed the Grijalva, one of the rivers flowing in the country, are some of the elements that make up one of the most breathtaking scenery Mexico: the Sumidero Canyon.
It was declared a "National Park" in 1980. |

With an area of 20 thousand hectares, the walls of the canyon reach almost a thousand meters high, and at the end of it is a hydroelectric generating station Manuel Torres Moreno, better known as Chicoasén.
A 12 kms from Tuxtla Gutierrez, is the landing of Chiapa de Corzo, which addresses the boat to conduct the recall by the river canyon.
By land, north of Tuxtla Gutierrez, will visit the five viewpoints: The Coyotes, La Ceiba, El Tepehuaje, oak and Los Chiapas. |
