The high altitude of Tacaná, 4 100 m, to distinguish him all kinds of climates and vegetation of the Sierra Madre. The dividing line passes through Guatemala with its summit under the Treaty of 1882. The Tacaná began the series of volcanoes in Central America and its rich slopes are densely populated even though it is an active volcano.
It is located in the Soconusco region of the state limits between Guatemala and Mexico, in the town of Union Juarez.
