Palenque
Palenque takes its name from the community of Santo Domingo de Palenque founded, possibly during the seventeenth century.

The site comprises more than 200 architectural structures, different in size and complexity, adapted to the topography of the land that stretches over an area of 2.5 kilometres.

.
The architectural evolution of Palenque, the vast network linking the commercial area with the Maya and other distant regions of Mesoamerica, make this place one of the most important Mayan world.
