It is located in the northwest of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas. It includes the municipalities of Arriaga, Tonalá, Cintalapa, Jiquipilas, Villacorzo and Villaflores.
It represents a transition between the Isthmus dry and wet area of Soconusco.

It is located east of Chiapas, in the municipality of Ocosingo. Its name means "Big Rock" (lacam: large and tun: stone), Lacandonians designated the main islet of Lake Miramar, which had built small header its vast territory jungle.
Access to the reserve can be given through roads, air or boat in the Usumacinta River. |
