| The poet in his words: |
Regarding his medical studies:
It was a total failure, the greatest tragedy of my life. From day one I realized I was not going to be a doctor. |
From his reading of the Bible, which he referred to as the "father of all books", in version of Casiodoro de Reyna: The Song of Songs, Ecclesiastes, the Book of Job: "There I found other people who crashes into everyday life. [...] I was at the heart of conflict. |
|
His tenure in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, National Autonomous University of Mexico led him to become an urban poet. In this regard recalls:
In Tuxtla knew that all I wrote and waved. Goodbye, poet bard goodbye. The problem is that in that environment accept one without rigor, without demand, and the problem is that one can not have it himself. I realized I had to revolutionize, learning new things to keep up. I realized and I rebelled.
From the time he took over the fabric store "The Model" in Tuxtla Gutierrez and concerns: He was a poet and yet every morning I had to raise four bitches steel curtains and sweeping the street where people spent littering. He was a poet, but had to put a blanket or sell meters aprons or do not know what the hell. I joined the thieves allowed: traders.
[...]although deep down I knew that I was first and foremost a poet. I had written Horal and The Signal, I felt great promise of Mexican literature, I had said in the press and elsewhere, and suddenly I am faced with reality, I wanted to marry, raise a family and had only I left the shop my brother. I felt humiliated and insulted by life, how was it possible that he was in that activity, the more antopoética the world? After two or three years I began to be humble, to tell me that the poet go to hell.

About his work comments:
Always seek the freedom to write, I walked away from the bureaucracy, journalism, everything that could harm me, my experience of making a literary life is pretty nasty. It's almost all things, is a snobbish attitude, safe, shallow and pitiful.. |
About his training and attitude to life, he says: My true teachers have been Goethe, Shakespeare, Dostoyevsky, Tagore. For me the great novelists are also great poets. Case Study: Rulfo. I think that poetry is beyond the form of a text. A play by Shakespeare or Dostoevsky move me as much as the best poem. Goethe for me was a great lesson, a man so massive, whole, who overcame his own demons, is controlled, because one has the tendency has always tumble down, to fall into the abyss, and I think they should live like a man precisely in that sense, to control your own demons, if, then, as ordinary people.
And about his reading: The writers do not let you copy his style, in case your freedom..
About the poetry that he writes: Poetry as an accident occurs, an outrage, a lover, a crime occurs daily, alone, when a man's heart begins to think about life..
The poem is the moment when the blood is collected with the thought of life.
The practice of poetry is a shameless job. The poet is an aspiring saint nude, is a dealer of heroism, is a man sold free. The poet uses the man as a lover of women is served, to say the final word. (The final words are those that people use every day.) The poet as the lover must come to silence: the silence is God or death, or both at the same time for the happy souls.
About "being a poet", he says: The poet is condemned to live [...] The poet is the lawyer hired by the life..
About Critics and critical: I'm getting used to the critics: one praises precisely what the other was displeased. There is no other resource that criticism itself, study and work. In this sense I'm making me, and I know I'm missing much. I want to be a poet, not a minstrel..
What do you mean by poetry, where there are and how he writes:
I believe that man is alone, poetry is a bridge that from solitude to another. All true art is but an attempt of communication, human comunicón (...) always respond to a human experience, is poetry. The poem has only one measure: its authenticity (...) There is no right to talk about what has not lived.
Seen, felt well, poetry is a true curse, and, of course, at times, a true blessing. Just stay calm when pitted the poem, when I break the back and, of course, never made it. Always continue the damn words so strong, so entrenched, as necessary as air.
Opinion on the structural analysis of his work: I may not like it because you put one hand into the depths ... one is naked and in the poem and then put one hand up inside ...
For her role as deputy, he said ironically with friends:
Being a deputy gives you power for three years. But shame you lifelong.
About influences on writing: When I dared to publish it because I felt that I had passed through the time of the influences that are strictly formal: how to write, write as someone ... no, that already had happened. But I never published anything like that, because I had a great sense of self-criticism, he always had and I was aware of the ties I had with other authors. I got other influences, but they are not just formal, but training like that of Joyce, for example. But what results the influence of Joyce? It translates into a joy, a great freedom to write. Not to write in the manner of Joyce, for clarity, right? Write with the juice and joy in the freedom of Joyce. The authors do not let you copy his style, but try their freedom.
