The high altitude of Tacana, 4 100 m, it can distinguish all types of climates and vegetation of the Sierra Madre. The dividing line with Guatemala through its summit under the Treaty of 1882. The Tacaná the series of Central American volcanoes and its rich slopes are densely populated although it is an active volcano.
It is located in the Soconusco region of the state, within the limits of Guatemala and Mexico in the municipality of Unión Juárez.
